WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT:

CUSTOM FOOT ORTHOTIC OVERVIEW:

Western Carolina O&P custom orthotics are designed to correct alignment and create comfort for feet that are experiencing mechanical or soft tissue dysfunction.  Orthotics relieve a wide variety of foot ailments and disorders, both common and uncommon.  Serving as an ongoing preventative treatment, orthotics can actually halt the progressive degeneration experienced in the uncontrolled dysfunction of the foot.

Orthotics are a cost effective alternative to surgery in many cases.  Being non-invasive, orthotics spares the patient the pain of surgery and the downtime as a result of surgery.  We always suggest that you consult with your physician in regards to the options of surgery and orthotics.  The best conclusion to a treatment approach is made with careful weighing of the options at hand.

Our orthotics are custom made in our facility.  We begin by evaluating your condition and finding out if orthotics are in fact an option for your problem.  There are a variety of orthotics as well as a variety of special alterations to orthotics.  A facility that offers just one orthotic is not giving you the best alternatives.  Orthotics should be made from a replica of your feet and the special alterations (if needed) are done to the replicas.  From that point, we use the raw materials that go into the fabrication of your orthotics and complete the custom process.  You return to be fitted.  Good shoes are a requirement for successful use of orthotics.  Without good shoes, there is no use in trying to make the correction.  In this aspect, we are very particular.  Our goal is to help you.

Depending on the orthotic, there is a period of adjustment.  We issue a wearing schedule to help you adapt to the positive changes that you will be experiencing.  If this is done too quickly, you will feel discomfort.  You may need to come in after a week of wearing your orthotics for an adjustment.  Fine tuning the orthotic is part of the customized procedure.  If you’re utilizing a facility that does not recommend periodic check-ups or adjustments, then the orthotic is sub-par and is not doing your problem sufficient justice.  We find your needs and make sure that what we do is in your best interest
